Zamfara: 74 Wanzamai Abductees Regain Freedom After Payment of N6,000,000 Ransom

In Zamfara State, Seventy-four out of the 96 abducted persons from Wanzamai village in Tsafe Local Government Area of State have regained their freedom after payment of six million naira as ransom to the abductors.

A resident of the village who disclosed that the abductors have released 74 while they killed two victims and held back twenty persons in captivity.

The 74 victims were brought into the village in vehicles straight to a private hospital for medical screening adding that, many of them can not walk properly as a result of the suffering that the abductors had subjected to them.

The 96 persons were said to have been abducted in the affected villages of Wanzamai, Gidan Cida and Kuceri but one of the victims later escaped leaving 95.

The abductors are insisting that, families of the victims must add more money before they will free the remaining twenty persons still in captivity.

The 74 who regained their freedom are weak, highly traumatized, and need urgent medical attention to be able to get back on their feet.

The families of the victims earlier told Radio Nigeria that, those abducted were 85 but they are 96, that the counting was inaccurate.

It would be recalled that on Friday, 7th April, 2023 suspected terrorists invaded Wanzamai, Kucheri, Gidan Chida villages and abducted 96 women and children to an unknown destination demanding three-million-naira ransom which families of the victims paid to them.
