NAF Evacuates 94 Nigerians From Sudan

Nigerian Airforce-NAF has evacuated 94 Nigerians stranded in Sudan.

In a statement by Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ayodele Famuyiwa says the evacuees arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at about 11:54pm last night.

The statement explains that the evacuees are among the first batch of 276 Nigerians airlifted from Aswan in the wake of the ongoing security challenges in Sudan.

It maintains that the effort is in furtherance of its constitutional role of aid to civil authority, and in line with federal government’s commitment to rescue and successfully return back home Nigerians living in Sudan.

The statement adds that the evacuees were received by the Minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, the ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr Nasir Sani Gwarzo, Director General NEMA, Ahmed Habib, and Chairman, Nigerians in diaspora Commission, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
