SUDAN WAR UPDATES: 1,471 Stranded Nigerians So Far Evacuated

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has announced that the Nigerian government with the assistance of some private airlines and organisations have evacuated a total of 1,471 Nigerians from warring Sudan to Nigeria.

According to NiDCOM, the sixth and seventh batches of the evacuees numbering 424 who were airlifted from Aswan International Airport, Egypt, landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja around 12:30 pm local time on Sunday via Tarco and Azman Air.

The breakdown of the evacuation by NiDCOM showed that in the first and second batches, a total of 376 people were returned by Military Jet C13H and Air Peace Flight, while Tarco Air brought in 130 people in the third batch.

SAHARA REPORTERS said Also, Tarco Air airlifted 131 in the fourth batch while Max Air brought in 410 in the fifth batch and Tarco Air and Azman Air brought in 102 and 322 people respectively in the sixth and seventh batches.

The NiDCOM said that the Air Peace flight conveying all the remaining Nigerians in Port Sudan is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Monday.
