NIS Kebbi Command Rescue Girl 18, Enroute to Libya

Men of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kebbi State Command has intercepted an 18 year old girl, Wosilat Yusuf, from Ibadan, Oyo State at Yauri border in Kebbi State on her way to Libya through illella border in Sokoto State.

Addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi, State Comptroller of Immigration, Rabi Bashir Nuhu said, the teenager was a victim of human traffickers that was brought to the state headquarters of NIS after she was intercepted by the officers at the Yauri border post.

Comptroller Bashir Nuhu said, upon discovering, Wosilat was been misled on her mission to Libya.

She said, the victim has been very cooperative with the agency whereby she told them that, one Abiodun Yusuf based in Libya was responsible for her traveling expenses and she was the one who invited her to Libya.

According to her, the agency has discovered that, the victim had undergone HIV and Herpertitis tests on the instructions of the person she was to meet in Libya which shows a clear case of prostitution even though she said she was going there for a job.

While answering questions from journalists, the 18 year old girl said, she was going to Libya on the invitation of her sister who promised her a cleaner job in Libya.

She told newsmen that, she was directed to do HIV and Herpertitis tests before coming.

Receiving the victim from NIS, NAPTIP Head of Operation, Sadiq Atiku Abubakar, said the girl would undergo rehabilitation before rejoining her family.

He said, NAPTIP would continue with the investigation to get the traffickers for prosecution.
