“Demolition of Illegal Structures”: KNSG Orders Arrest of Scavengers Destroying Public Properties

The Kano state government has ordered the immediate arrests of unscrupulous scavengers destroying public properties in the name of evacuating the debris of some buildings pulled down by the state government.

In a statement released and signed by chief press secretary to the state governor Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa said the state government also expressed dismay on the attitude of some scavengers who encircle some structures own by individuals aimed at destroying as well as take out some metal and other valuable from the demolished buildings in the state.

According to the statement, the state government had noted with dismay the attitude of some scavengers who are trying to destroy public properties in the name of evacuating the debris of some buildings pulled down by the state government in the wake of the on-going demolition of what it described as “illegal structures” approved by the immediate past administration in the state.

It said government also ordered State commissioner of Police to arrest the perpetrators of such act.

“In view of the above, the state Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf had directed the state police commissioner to immediately arrest perpetrators of such immortal acts and ensure that they face the wrath of the law,” said the statement.

The Governor then enjoined people of the state to go about their businesses, remain law abiding and report such unscrupulous scavengers to the nearest security agencies for prompt action.

Yusuf assured people of the state the commitment of his administration of recouping public properties that were illegally acquired and put the state in the straight path for monumental achievements.
