Police Arrest Cattle Rustler, Recovers 3 Cows, 16 Sheeps, Others in Jigawa

The Jigawa state police command says it has arrested one Dan-jummai Alasan of Kanawa village in Kaugama local government area of the State over allegations of cattle rustling and possession of stolen valuables.

The state police public relations officer DSP Lawan Shiisu stated this in a statement sent to GLOBAL TRACKER from Dutse, the state Capital.

According to the statement the police acted on a tip-off from residents that a cow (bull) worse seven hundred thousand naira (700,000) was taken away by unknown people.

“That on 05/07/2023 at about 0500hrs, info at command’s disposal has it that, on the same date at about 0300hrs, hoodlums trespassed into the house of one Sale Rabiu ‘m’ of Garin Bukar village, Kaugama LGA and made away with his bull valued seven hundred thousand Maria’s(#700,000.00k),” said the statement.

It further said “Following a tip-off, a team of Policemen from Kaugama Divisional Headquarters raided the house of one Dan Jumai Alasan ‘m’ age 35yrs of Musaram Kanawa village, Kaugama LGA.”

He said after the Kaugama police started track and traced it lead them to the house of one Dan Jumai Alasan ‘M’ age 35 years of Musaram Kanawa village, Kaugama Local Government area.

“When the search was conducted, three (3) cows, sixteen (16) sheep, thirteen (13) goats, two (2) motor vehicles, and spare parts, strongly suspected to be stolen were recovered,” it said.

Shiisu also said “on interrogation, the suspect mentioned four (4) persons now at large, who are responsible for the theft, while his role is to keep and disposed of the said stolen animals at various markets by using the two motor vehicles found in his possession.”

The statement when further to say “all effort to arrest the fleeing suspects is in top gear, meaning that the suspect currently in police custody will be charged in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.”

Meanwhile, the Jigawa state commissioner of police CP Effiom Emmanuel Ekot has commended the effort of Policemen attached to the Kaugama Division for a ob well done and dedication to their duty.

The commissioner assured the general public of the command’s readiness in ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens and urged them to report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station for prompt action.
