The Southern Kaduna Muslim Ummah Development Association (SOKAMUDA) has voiced its discontent following the recent events that unfolded within the National Assembly in Abuja.

Concerns have been raised by the organization over the screening process of Mallam Nasiru Ahmad Elrufai, the Ministerial nominee from Kaduna State.

SOKAMUDA’s National Chairman, Bala Adamu, and its National Secretary, Shuaibu Zubairu, jointly conveyed their unease during a press briefing held at the NNDC Mall on Muhammadu Buhari Way in Kaduna.

Despite Elrufai’s nomination being met with a request to “take a bow and leave” after his screening, SOKAMUDA highlighted their disappointment with his nomination’s current status, held back under the premise of awaiting security clearance.

Representing various Muslim associations from the Southern Senatorial Zone of the state, SOKAMUDA expressed surprise at this unforeseen development, expressing doubts about the motivations behind withholding Elrufai’s nomination and questioning the veracity of circulating media speculations.

During the screening process, a senator from Kogi State referenced an undisclosed petition against Elrufa’l from Southern Kaduna.

Despite Elrufai’s willingness to address the matter, the Senate President optioned to defer the issue, allowing the nominee to proceed without further discussion.

Pointing to Elrufai’s past efforts in promoting unity and inclusivity during his tenure as the governor of Kaduna, SOKAMUDA underscored his initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive society and bridging divides within diverse communities.

SOKAMUDA now urges the Senate to reconsider their stance and confirm Elrufai as a minister, highlighting the public’s confidence in his capabilities.

The organization also extends its appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, requesting his intervention due to Elrufai’s significant contributions to the success of the APC and his role in advancing democratic development across the nation.
