HMB Distributes Over 50M Free Maternal Drugs to 13 Health Facilities in Kano

The Kano state Hospital Management Board (HMB) has warned the Chief Medical Director, chief medical officers and health facilities management against selling or converting drugs meant for public to personal usage.

The executive secretary Kano state Hospital Management Board Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda stated this in an interview with newsman in Kano.

According to him the Board will keep monitoring the activities of all health facilities in the state with a view to ensure proper maintenance and smooth operations of the facilities.

He said the Board has setup accident and emergency committee saddled with responsibility of monitoring activities and distribution of all drugs and consumables supply to major and minor health facilities so as to ensure maximum utilization of every drug and adding that a register would be put in place to ensure appropriate records of every activities in the facilities.

“We have set a committee for fsfree maternity and free accident and emergency committee that will oversee the activities of distribution and utilization of these items, in addition, we will set a register that would records the nominal name of patients and their file numbers in the hospital,” he said.

The executive secretary added that other health facilities would also get the drugs after upward submission of their data.

In a remark, the Kano state commissioner of Health Dr. Abubakar Yusuf Labaran said the drugs distributed worth fifty three million (53,000,000) naira, and lion share which is 40 million is earmarked for free maternal and children drugs while 13 million for accident and emergency drugs.

The commissioner pointed out that ten (10) general and specialist hospital would benefit from the drugs while three (3) primary health care facilities would also benefits the gesture.

The benefiting hospital includes: Nuhu Bamalli Hospitals, Hasiya Bayero Pediatric hospital, Wudil general hospital, Gezawa general hospital, Murtala Muhammad specialist hospital, Sir Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase teaching hospital, Munjibir general hospital, Tudu-wada general hospital Bichi general hospital and Danbatta general hospital.

Others are Gwagwarwa primary health care, Jaen primary health care and Dala M. C. H.

The commissioner commended governor Abba Kabir Yusuf led administration in protecting the health of every Kano residents warning that the ministry would not condone any act capable of undermining people health.
