Group decries insecurity in Northern Nigeria

The Northern Consensus Movement has called on critical stakeholders in Northern Nigeria to rise up against heightened security challenges in the region.

President of the movement, Dr Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu made the call at a news briefing in Kaduna.

Dr. Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu stressed the need for the constitution of a community intelligence and intervention committee at the grassroot level that involves religious and youth leaders that would checkmate the menace.

The President of the movement observed that poverty, hunger and unemployment were some of the major factors responsible for the problem, and called for a holistic approach for lasting solutions to the menace.

On the recent abduction of female students at Federal University Gusau, and Federal University, Dutsinma, Dr Aliyu called on elders and leaders of Northern extraction to ensure that girl child education in the region receive adequate attention.
