Kano Poly Hands Over KIIT to Science & Technology Ministry

The Management of Kano State Polytechnic has on Friday 6th October, 2023 officially handed over the Kano State Institute of Information Technology (KIIT), Kura to the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, Kano State a development described as the utmost decorum scenario.

In a statement signed and sent to GLOBAL TRACKER, the head of public affairs the Polytechnic Auwal Ismail Bagwai said the handover followed the State Executive Council’s approval to revive all the twenty-six (26) Entrepreneurship Institutes that were closed down by the previous administration.

Speaking at the handing over meeting held at the Rector’s office, the Rector, Associate Professor Kabir Bello Dungurawa on behalf of the entire KSP Community extended his appreciation and gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf for his kind gesture of allowing the KSP students in the Institute to complete their examinations.

He said the Institute was taken over by the Polytechnic from the then-Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil in 2021.

His words, “The first thing we did after taking over the Institute in 2021 was a letter written to the NBTE intimating them about the development as well as requesting permission to replicate two courses offered at SOT (Computer Science and Computer Engineering) in the Institute which was granted.

“Today as we are handing over the Institute all the graduates of KIIT, from 2021 – to date, are awarded with a National Diploma.”

The Rector further assured the Ministry that the KSP management will continue to support the Institute to actualize its mandate.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Binta Umar Bala acknowledged and appreciated the sense of maturity exhibited by the KSP management since the commencement of the handing-over process.

“I must heartily commend the Rector and his management team for their high level of maturity, and sense of responsibility and for the noble act of handing over the Institute without any hitch.”

“In another place where such an event takes place, it hardly ends smoothly as this one, we appreciate that”.

“We are aware of all the struggles, efforts, and commitments you have made to ensuring the existence of the Institute, as its counterparts had been closed for a long.”

She further appeals to the management that the cordial working relationship and synergy between the KSP and the Ministry should continue to make the Institute one of the best not only in Kano but the nation at large.

Commenting on the development, the newly appointed Director of the Institute, Abdullahi Garba Ali (PhD) commended and appreciated the mutual understanding demonstrated by the KSP management throughout the handing-over process, adding that the gesture shows that KSP is one of the giant Institutions in the state.
