NSCDC Commandant General Orders Deployment of Personnel to Schools

Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi has ordered State Commandants to immediately deploy undercover agents to schools and host communities.

He gave the charge at the closing ceremony of a five day capacity training for personnel in the North-West region on safe schools in Nigeria organised by the National Safe Schools Response Co-ordination Center-NSSRCC, held in Kaduna State.

Represented by ACG David Abi, the CG also directed that the officers should work in synergy with state ministries of education as well as local government education authorities at the grassroot level.

He explained that the training was a pilot phase programme that would be replicated in all the geo-political zones, with the aim of creating awareness and building capacity of personnel, vigilante groups and members of private guard companies.

“The National safe schools response co-ordination centre was designed to strengthen security resilience of relevant stakeholders to enable them provide protection for schools and host communities from violence and attacks”

According to Dr Audi, with the recurring cases of attacks and violence in schools, the task ahead of the centre is enormous and therefore requires effective synergy from all stakeholders.

Also speaking, State Commandant of the Corps, Mr Idris Yahaya Adah pledged to deploy all resources for the success of the safe schools project in addition to other mandates and complementary duties.

Represented by DC Ndukwe Kalu, the Commandant called on school owners and administrators to support the project by taking proactive steps in the protection of their investments.

In a remark, Governor Uba Sani expressed the State Government’s commitment towards keying into any initiative geared towards fostering peace across the State.

Represented by Mr Samuel Aruwan, the Governor urged the participants to use the knowledge acquired towards ensuring an enabling environment for imparting knowledge.

There were goodwill messages by representatives of General Officer Commanding One Division Kaduna, State Commissioner of Police, Nigeria Customs Service, State Director of the DSS among others.

The five day capacity building development drew over 200 personnel across the 7 States of the North-West region.
