ACOMIN Visit Kano Health Ministry, Solicits For Staff Redevelopment

The civil society in Malaria control immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has urged Kano state ministry of health to deployed staffs to Yautar Kudu Primary Health Care (PHC) of Gabasawa local government area, Dawakin Kudu General Hospital and Zorama Health Post in Gaya local government area due to inadequacy of manpower that the facilities were experiencing.

ACOMIN Kano state programme officer Malam Sharif Abubakar disclosed this in an exclusive interview with GLOBAL TRACKER correspondent shortly after an advocacy visit to acting director public health at the Kano state ministry of Health Dr. Ibrahim Aliyu Umar in his office in Kano on Thursday.

According to him, in the call become necessary as some health post has only single staff to be fully employed by the state while the remaining are either casual or voluntary staff.

Malam Sharif said despite the challenges, a lots of success were recorded in taking care of people from the catchment area of the facilities, adding that the state advocacy team encourages health professionals in the facilities environs to be contributing their quota in safeguarding people’s health.

In a remark, the acting director Dr. Ibrahim Aliyu Umar advised how the team will communicate with the ministry so as more emphasis will be given to their reports and findings describing ACOMIN as partners in progress.

Dr. Aliyu assured the commitment of Kano health ministry led by Dr. Abubakar Yusuf Labaran in working with relevant stakeholders in achieving the desired objectives.

Meanwhile, the state advocacy team have visited the state Malaria elimination programme manager comrade Babangida Musa on the issue of inadequate Malaria commodities namely SP, LLIN, ACT and RDT.

In an interaction with the team, the manager acknowledged the scarcity of the commodities, saying “I am optimistic that the current state government will critically looks in to the issue and address it one and for all because the state prioritize health sector and Education more than any other.”

According to him even the current scarcity is as a result of transition between one government to another a development that takes a little time and decisions before any other business goes as usual.

While speaking, Malam Sharif Abubakar appreciate Kano state government support towards fighting Malaria and assured ACOMIN’s commitment in safeguarding the health of the residents.
