Kano Tricycle Theft, Others Arrested in Jigawa

The Jigawa state police command said it has arrested one Haruna Rabi’u aged 35 years of Fagge local government area of Kano state on allegations of stealing tricycle in Garki local government area of Jigawa state.

The command in a statement signed by it’s public relations officer DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam on behalf of state commissioner of police said “on I4/10/2023 at about 1800hrs, one Abubakar Salisu ‘m’ age 28yrs of Hotoro Nasarawa LGA Kano state, a commercial tricycle driver reported at Garki Police station that, one Haruna Rabiu ‘m’ age 35yrs of Fagge LGA Kano state, hired him from Kano to Garki with the pretence of conveying rice back to Kano, on reaching Garki town, the complainant seized the opportunity to pay homage to his relative residing at Garki town.”

On his return, he discovered that the suspect fled to an unknown destination with his tricycle with registration number GLW 52 YL.

It said on receipt of the report, policemen on patrol and neighbouring divisions were informed, auspiciously, the said Haruna Rabiu was intercepted by policemen on patron along Tsakuwawa village in Miga LGA.

The patrol team handed over the suspect and the stolen tricycle to the crime branch for investigation.

On investigation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the commission of tricycle theft.

Meanwhile, the command has arrested one Mustapha Abdullahi on allegations of stealing computer Laptop and three Android phones.

The statement said “on 19/10/23 at about 1130hrs, one Basil Ukwuoma ‘m’ 48yrs of Kanti quarters Kazaure LGA, reported at Kazaure Police station, that on the same date at about 1100hrs, when he was in his photography shop, one Mustapha Abdullahi ‘m’ 20yrs of Kankara LGA of Katsina state came to the shop with pretence to charge his phone and printout photographs.

After he left, the complainant discovered that his Toshiba Laptop valued at seventy thousand naira (₦70,000.00k) was missing.

On receipt of the report, information was disseminated to Patrol men, but fortunately, the said Mustapha Abdullahi was arrested in possession of the stolen Laptop in his bag alongside three phones; a Techno, Infinix, and Hawaii products.

When questioned, the suspect could not give a satisfactory account of the laptop and the phones.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime allegedly against him.

Also in another development, on 19/10/2023 one Basiru Mu’azu Adamu ‘m’ 42yrs of Yan Makada village Kazaure LGA reported at Kazure Police station that, on the same date at about 0200hrs unknown thieves stormed Farm and Agro-Allied Company LTD at Gada Kazaure LGA, locked the Security Guard inside the room and stole one submersible pumping machine valued at three hundred thousand Naira (₦300,000.00k.)

On receipt of the report, detectives attached to Kazaure Police station visited the scene of the crime.

Based on credible information, one Surajo Haruna ‘m’ alias Menasa age 20yrs of Gada Kazaure LGA, who is a former staff of the company was arrested in connection with the case.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence together with one Usama Ibrahim ‘m’ age 20yrs of the same address, where the said submersible pumping machine was recovered in their possession.

Investigation further disclosed that Surajo Haruna is a habitual criminal, he was once convicted for a similar offence.

Lawan Shiisu added that all the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation to face the full wrath of the law.
