Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) members on Thursday staged a protest at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Abuja blocking all entrance and exit.

The organised labour gathered at the airport this morning to enforce directive to members working in the aviation sector to stop all flights to Owerri, the Imo state capital.

The protest is part of a series of actions that the two labour centres say they will zero in on Imo state, following the attack on the NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero.

The NLC and TUC had declared a nationwide strike which will commence on Tuesday, November 14th, due to the face-off with the Imo State Government.

The protesters attempted to go into the airport, but were stopped by the military at the checkpoint.

The protesters blocked the entry and exit point of the airport, causing heavy traffic of vehicles on both sides thereby forcing travelers to make their way into the airport on foot.
