Katsina Govt Budgets N454 Billion for 2024

The Katsina state government has presented a breakdown of the state’s 2024 budget estimated of N454 billion before newsmen in Katsina.

The Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Bello Kagara while presenting the budget said it consists of a proposed capital expenditure of 72 percent and recurrent expenditure of 27 percent has exceeded the 2023 budget by N153 billion.

The proposed budget appropriates N67 billion to the Water Resources sector, N66 billion to Education Sector, N53 billion to Works, and N38 billion to the Health sector.

Similarly, N37 billion was appropriated to the Environment sector while Agriculture got the lowest allocation of N20 billion.

Meanwhile, out of the recurrent expenditure, N38.5 billion will be set aside for the payment of salaries while N17.9 billion has been allocated for the payment on of pensions and gratuities.

Kagara noted that the budget will be funded with a projected FAAC allocation of N63 billion, an IGR of N40 billion, capital receipts of N185 billion and an opening balance of N15 billion.

It would be recalled that early this month, Governor Dikko Radda presented the draft budget at the State House of Assembly without media presence at the event.

His spokesman, Ibrahim Kaula, explained that the budget was presented on a low-key due to the industrial action by the legislative workers union.
