The civil society in Malaria control Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has visited Kano state ministry of health, office of director public at the ministry as part of stakeholders visit to the state healthcare system.
The ACOMIN Kano state programme Officer (SPO) Malam Sharef Abubakar disclosed this in an exclusive interview with GLOBAL TRACKER Correspondent shortly after the meeting on Monday.
According to him the meeting focused on how some health facilities in the state especially primary healthcare (PHC’s) would be converted to 24 hours operational facilities as well as deployment of staffs to other health post.

The SPO said the during the meeting three facilities from three local government areas namely Tofa, Ungogo and Bunkure were priotize due to inadequate personnel and consumables.
“Our Advocacy visit to the Director Public Health and Disease Control Dr. Ashiru Rajab were centred on the issue of inadequate staff at Kwami Health Post (HP) in Tofa LGA, Gera Health Post (HP) in Ungogo LGA and need for upgrading of Barkum primary healthcare (PHC) to 24 service in Bunkure LGA” said Sharef.
He then urged people in the state to take ownership of their health facilities so as to be protect public health.

In a remarks, the director public health, Kano state ministry of health Dr. Ashiru Rajab appreciate the visit describing it as timely taking into recognition that the rise cases of Malaria in the state.
Dr. Rajab assured that the ministry would work closely with the management of ACOMIN so as to support protection of public health.
ACOMIN Visits State Malaria Elimination Programme
Meanwhile, the civil society in Malaria control Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has visited the state Malaria Elimination Programme procurement officer (PSO-SMEP) Pharmacist Auwal Alkasim Ahmed on the issue of shortage of Malaria Commodities in different health facilities in the state.
Pharmacist Auwal Alkasim said the shortage comes from the global fund as supplies were reduce as a result of some issues.
On the Issue of treeted mosquito net, the Pharmacist Alkasim said “at this time 296 facilities received over 26,000 net covering 44 LGA.” I want you to be advocating for every facilities to records usage and beneficiaries of any net.”

In a remarks, ACOMIN’s Kano programme Officer Malam Sharef Abubakar urged for strengthening relationship between services providers at health facilities to patients.
“On 22nd November 2023, We paid an advocacy visit to Pham Auwal Alkasim Ahmad the procurement and supply officer (PSO SMEP) on the issue of shortage of malaria commodities” he said.
Abubakar then called on the Public to take ownership of their health facilities and support government at all levels in protection of facilities against vandalization and other unwanted Activities.
