The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kano state council says it would mediate the ongoing crisis between the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and the struggling technical crew of Kano Pillars led by Abdullahi Maikaba.

In a statement by its state secretary Abba Murtala, the NUJ has set up a three-member committee to reconcile the warring parties.

GLOBAL TRACKER recalled that SWAN has in a statement sent to this newspaper after its meeting with members decided to boycott all technical crew free and post-match interviews after Minsults insulted their Ex-officio in charge of Northwestern States just because a simple question was put to Maikaba on “Why does he change his team he played his last match?.

However, NUJ has set up a three-member committee saddled with the responsibility of identifying the cause(s) of the impasse to avert future occurrences for the public good.

The committee members according to NUJ include
Abdullahi Yusuf as Chairman, Salma Yusuf as Member, and Abdulgafar Olademeji will serve as Secretary.

“As the NUJ appreciates concerns from various quarters on the unfortunate development, the committee is expected to complete its assignment within the possible shortest time,” added the statement.

Meanwhile, Kano Pillars are struggling to maintain its 6th position in the premier league table after losing points on both the Home and away trips.

This comes after bagging just 5 points in its last 5 games as the Sai Masu Gida won only one match, drew 2, and lost 2 including those played at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata (Pillars home).
