Houthi Uncovers “American-Israel Spy Cell” Detained Dozens

The Islamic fundamentalist movement in northern Yemen best known as “Houthi” said it has uncovered a large number of “American-Israel Spy Network” operating in various institutions since 2015 in Yemen.

The spokesman of the Houthi armed forces brigadier general Yahya Sare’e Qasim disclosed this in a statement posted on the Telegram channel of the armed group.

According to him, the network collected important information on various fields and provided it to hostile intelligence agencies.

“The network was able to influence decision-makers, penetrate state agencies, and work to attract officials, it worked to influence, control, and strike the economy by collecting information and carrying out acts of sabotage,” said the statement.

“The network worked to harm agriculture by increasing agricultural pests in the country with the aim of encouraging agricultural imports, the spy network sought to harm health in the country by spreading epidemics, harming education and spreading moral corruption,” it said.

“The American and Israeli intelligence with military information with the aim of weakening the army and its capabilities, at also conducted intelligence activities targeting the military and manufacturing capabilities of our armed forces,” it added.

Yahya alleged that spy network included former staff at the US embassy in Yemen, according to a television statement from Abdel Hakim al-Khaiwani, the Houthis’ intelligence chief.

“The American-Israeli spy cell carried out espionage and sabotage activities in official and unofficial institutions for decades in favour of the enemy,” he said.

“Members of the spy spell and American officers exploited their positions at the American embassy to carry out their sabotage activities. After the American embassy left Sanaa … the members of the spy cell continued to implement their sabotage agendas under the cover of international and UN organisations.”

GLOBAL TRACKER learned that there was no immediate comment from the United Nations or United States.
