Despite Durbar Cancellation in Kano, Kwankwasiyya Sallah Celebration Records Large Turnout

Annual Kwankwasiyya Sallah Celebration has recorded a very large turnout despite cancellation of Durbar in Kano state by the state police command over the pear of political unrest.

GLOBAL TRACKER recalled that the Kano state police command in a statement by its public relations officer DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa says all Durbar activities were cancelled for the sake of peace amid high tension of parallel durbar thay was said to be planned by the Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II and the 15th emir of Kano Aminu Ado Bayero who claimed to be the emir.

However, in an interview with journalist, the Kano state commissioner for higher Education who double as general Secretary of Kwankwasiyya movement Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata said the occasion has recorded a lots of success especially looking at the number of people who attended the celebration.

According to him, people from different ethnic background, religion, geopolitical zones attended the event whom are very much excited on both the movement’s ideology and its operations.

“We gathered here to celebrate Sallah festivities as one of the activities introduced by the Kwankwasiyya movement to promote Peace, Unity, Brotherhood and development to our dear state, especially among different ethnic groups in Nigeria,” Kofar Mata said.

“As you can see in the high table we have people from southern part of Nigeria especially southeast and southwest, and so many people from Lagos and other part of the country come here, we use to do it annually and this is the six-time we are conducting it twice every year,” he said.

Asked about whether they organized the event due to cancellation of durbar, he said “Since durbar was cancelled we have every right to do this celebration.”

In a remark, the Presidential Candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party NNPP in the 2023 General Elections Engineer (Dr) Rabiu Kwankwaso has called on the people of Kano state, to join forces for the peace and development of the Commercial city.

According to him, time for all Kano Indigenes and NNPP members to come together is now when the state is facing issues from highly placed politicians from different fronts.

On the issue of Kano Emirates tussle, Kwankwaso said has now turned to a political show of force against restoring the historic traditions of royal institution.

“We won elections overwhelmingly but the enemies of the state are working hard to topple it, but Allah in his infinite wisdom intervened.”

“It seems the enemies are at it again. You know what is happening on the Emirate Council and we thank all those who are supporting the position of Government in this regard we are one and will continue to be one.”
