Police Arrests 22 Suspected Thieves, Cattle Rustler, Drugs Dealers in Jigawa

The Jigawa state police command says it has arrested 22 Suspected thieves, a cattle rustler and drug dealers as well as users in Kazaure local government area.

The command public relations officer DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam in a statement sent to journalist in Dutse, the state capital said different criminals were arrested for various offenses.

The statement reads “On 19/07/2024 at about 1700hrs, a patrol team from Babura Division apprehended one Nasiru S Kaila ‘m’ age 29yrs of Nassarawa quarters, Gumel LGA with one 43-inch Samsung plasma TV, which was strongly suspected to have been stolen.

The suspect and the exhibit were immediately taken to the station for further investigation.

When interrogated, the suspect was unable to provide a satisfactory account of the TV.

The suspect was charged to court for prosecution.

“On 20/07/2024 at about 1000hrs, a distress call was received from BUA construction company at Kazaure Division, stating that an unknown person stole a 150A battery cell belonging to the company.

Following receipt of the report, a team of Policemen conducted an on-the-spot assessment at the company.

A discreet investigation led to the arrest of one of the company’s drivers, Nura Tukur ‘m’ 35yrs from Dutsinma LGA in Katsina state.

During interrogation at the Divisional Crime Branch, the suspect admitted to committing the crime. He had been arraigned in court for prosecution.

“On 20/07/2024 at about 1000hrs, one Ana Samuel ‘f’ age 29yrs of Kofar Yamma Babura LGA, reported at Babura Division that, on 19/07/2024 at about 1330hrs one Nura Nafi’u ‘m’ age 20yrs of Dantanoma quarters Gumel LGA, trespassed into her business shop located at Babura main market behind Jasko store and stole away her Handset infinix smart 8, valued at one hundred thousand naira (#100,000.00).

Upon receipt of the report, detectives swung into action and arrested the suspect in possession of the said handset.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime.

“On July 21, 2024, at about 1700hrs, a Police Patrol team attached to the Babura Division while on patrol arrested and brought to the station one Sani Sa’idu ‘m’ age 20yrs and one Mubarak Abdullahi ‘m’ 21yrs, both from the Babura LGA, in possession of some scraps and copper wire.

Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to stealing the copper wire and scraps from Babura General Hospital.

Suspects were presented to the court for prosecution.

“On 22/07/2024 at about 1500hrs one Adamu Garba ‘m’ age 50yrs of Gwandari village, Birniwa LGA, reported at Birniwa Division that, on 21/07/2024 at about 1130hrs, unknown persons trespassed into his house and stole away his Cow.

After receiving the report, detectives from Birniwa Division swung into action and successfully arrested one Ali Abdu ‘m’, age 25yrs of Kanumari Fulani settlement camp, Birniwa LGA, who was in possession of the cow. Hence he was taken to the Divisional Crime Branch for Questioning.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime.

The suspect has already been taken to court for prosecution.

“On 23/07/2024 at about 0900hrs, information was received at Sara Divisional Police Headquarters that, two (2) persons were identified through investigation as one Muhammad Zangina Sulaiman ‘m’ age 22yrs of Unguwar Ganji village and one Naziru Tijjani ‘m’ age 25yrs of Saduwa quarters Sara town, conspired among themselves and trespassed into the house of one Isah Abubakar ‘m’ 43yrs of Bodinga village, and stole his red motorcycle.

After the victim raised an alarm, an enraged mob gathered in large numbers and pursued the suspects. One of the suspects, Muhammad Zangina Sulaiman, was apprehended and severely beaten, resulting in injuries and fractures to his leg and hand. While the other suspect took to his heels on the motorcycle.

On receipt of the information, Policemen attached to Sara Police Division swung into action and rush to the scene. The suspect was rescued and conveyed him to the Sara PHC for medical attention.

Acting on credible intelligence, the said Naziru Tijjani, who was at large, was arrested by the Police on routine patrol on July 27, 2024, at about 1300hrs, and the stolen motorcycle was recovered in his possession.

On interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime.

After the investigation is completed, the suspects will be charged in court for prosecution.

“On July 26, 2024, between 1800 and 1900hrs, a raid of black spots and criminal hideouts was conducted at the riverside, Zangon Kanya, and Yandutse, all in Ringim LGA.

During the Raid, fourteen (14) suspects were arrested and the following exhibits were recovered in their possession;

● One hundred and three (103) Exol tablets
● Twenty six (26) wraps of dry leaves suspected to be indian hemp
● Twenty one (21) D5 tablets
● Two (2) pieces of rubber solution
● one big bottle of suck and die and
● one bottle of traditional herbs.

Following the completion of a discreet investigation, all suspects will be arraigned in court and face the full force of the law.
