The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has received and officially acknowledged a formal complaint against the Chief of Staff to the Kano State Government, Shehu Wada Sagagi.

The complaint, filed by the Arewa APC Merger Group and signed by its National Coordinator, Hon. Musa Mujahid Zaitawa, alleges that Mr. Sagagi was involved in the misappropriation and diversion of Federal Government rice palliative meant for the people of Kano State.

According to the letter addressed to the EFCC Chairman, the group claims that credible media reports and reliable sources have revealed that Mr. Sagagi allegedly hid the rice at one of his houses located in Gandun Albasa Quarters, Kano.

The letter further stated that during a recent protest, some youths reportedly broke into the house and took away the rice.

The Arewa APC Merger Group condemned Sagagi’s act, describing it as not only unethical but also a gross violation of public trust.

They urged the EFCC to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that justice is served, emphasizing their confidence in the commission’s commitment to upholding the law and protecting the interests of the citizens.

The EFCC’s official stamp indicates that the letter was received and acknowledged on August 12, 2024, confirming the commission’s awareness of the complaint and potential investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, the development is expected to draw significant public attention, given the ongoing concerns over the fair distribution of palliatives and the accountability of public officials in the handling of relief materials.
