Monthly Environmental Sanitation: Kano Govt Summoned Management of U/Uku Motor Park

The Kano state government has summoned the management of Unguwa Uku motor park in Tarauni local government area of the state for operating in an unhygienic and dirty environment.

The state commissioner for environment and climate change Alhaji Nasiru Sule Garo disclosed this during inspection of Monthly Environmental Sanitation exercise for markets, business premises, government establishment and eateries held in Kano on Friday.

According to the commissioner, the motor park must explained why none of its management was at the park despite acknowledging notice of visitation and operating in dirty, unhygienic, unfriendly and inhabitable environment.

“In todays visitation the only unwanted issues is here at unguwa uku motor park, the surrounding is not good, not clean, and also their toilets are not in good conditions, the management of the motor park is not even on ground to take us through, therefore this ministry would summoned them and sit down to have a discussions on how they would make this environment habitable for the people,” said Nasiru Garo.

On the issue of ongoing statewide drainage clearance, the commissioner expressed happiness over the response received from people commenting on the success story.

“There are so many places that have not seen drainage clearance for a very long time, but now the administration of Alhaji Abba Kabiru Yusuf has embarked on clearing those drainages,” he said.

“Recently, our director public relations and enlightenment was live on local radio station in Kano, people have phone-in and appreciate the level of ongoing drainage clearance, so we are happy with the progress,” said Garo.

The commissioner then urged members of the public and environment stakeholders to complement government efforts in sanitizing their environment and make Kano clean.

He urged people to use tomorrow’s (Saturday) period of Monthly Environmental Sanitation exercise to clear their drainages and make their domain safe and habitable.
