The players of Barau Football Club have expressed their anger over the failure of the team’s owner and the Nigeria’s deputy senate president Barau I. Jibrin to fulfill his promises.
GLOBAL TRACKER learned that Barau had on June this year (2024) promise donations of a brand new coaster bus and one motorcycle to each player and official of the team in celebration of their triumph and promotion to the Nigerian National League NNL.
Barau Jibrin spoke after receiving praise from the club’s administration and players for their exceptional performance in the Maliya Boys’ 3-2 penalty shootout triumph over the Yoca Crocodiles.

However, some players and officials of the team confirmed to GLOBAL TRACKER that the senator did not keep to his words.
“Its over four months now none of us received such donations, we want officials to reminds him about it, we love the senator, he is good man, but we need him to keep to his words,” said the source.
Also, in a Radio program monitored by this newspaper, a prominent Radio politician said “for Barau Jibrin to be receiving some NNPP defectors would not worry us; this is how politics works, but we will not vote for someone who fails to meet his promise to his club, Barau Football Club who are tiny and in-sigficants compared to Kano people.”
The source hoped that stakeholders will discussed the issue to the senator for prompt response.
