Kano Govt Okays N3 Billion for Renovation of 13 Girls’ Boarding Schools Closed by Ganduje’s Administration

The Kano state executive council has approved the sum of over three billion (N3,039,878,501.70) naira for the renovations of thirteen (13) boarding girl’s secondary schools closed down by immediate past administration of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The Kano state commissioner for information and internal affairs comrade ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya disclosed this while briefing journalist on the outcomes of 29th state executive council meeting held in Kano.

Waiy said the development was part of the present administration of engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf commitment in reviving the lost glory of education in Kano state adding that the schools are GGSS Unguwar Gyattai, GGSS Gezawa, GGSS Sumaila, GGSS Kwa, GGSS Albasu, GGSS Madobi, GGSS Yar-Gaya, GTC Tudun Wad, GGSS Jogana, GGSS Danzabuwa, Unity College Karaye, GCSS Kachako and GGSS Yambaki.

“The executive council also approved the counterpart funding for the supply of commodities under the Free Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health and Free Accident and Emergency Programme, N180,000,000.00, Establishment of a Primary School at Gishiri-Wuya community in Warawa LGA-
N190,294,598.2 7 (under the Ministry of Health), Procurement of a brand-new Toyota Coaster bus for the School of Health Technology, Bebeji, N240,000,000.00 and the Provision and deployment of essential requirements for the full operation of Kano Ultra-Modern Specialist Hospital (KUSH), N107,385,600.00,” said Waiya.

The commissioner said the state government also okays the renovation of closed boarding schools across the state with N3,039,878,501.70, Settlement of outstanding liabilities for boarding school feeding (3 weeks), -N300,637,500.00, Conduct of 2025 internal examinations (BECE/BEICE & SSQE/SAISQE), Government Secondary School, Guringawa – N266,766,317.19, Government Girls Secondary School, Balan, Tsanyawa – 151,877,921.58, government Technical College, Ungogo (Phase I) N349,950,272.27, government Technical College, Dambatta 1- N452,352,049.35 and general renovation of dilapidated structures at N718,739,609.28.

The commissioner during the briefing accompanied by commissioner for Works, commissioner for budget and planning Musa Suleiman Shanono and his counterpart of tourism and culture Hajiya Saji Lawan Rano said ministry of environment and climate change has an approval for the commencement of NEWMAP-EIB project with N300,000,000.00 set aside to the project, Construction of reinforced concrete drainage at Toranke, Ajingi LGA
N137,664,256.31, Construction of minor drainage at Hotoron Arewa, Nassa rawa LGA – N185,958,458.44 and Minor drainage clearance across 88 wards in 8 metropolitan LGAs – N343,082,400.00.

He said the state government has approved to the state ministry for higher Education for the settlement of May 2025 energy bills at Aliko Dangote University of Science & Technology, Wudil – N30,144,693.13 and the Renewal of NCAA pilot licenses for Kano State pilot trainees cost N91,200,000.00.

Ministry of works and infrastructure has the greet light from the council for the construction of road network at Security Institute, Gabasawa N156,111,474.31, Expansion of scope for road markings and crash barrier maintenance under
Urban Renewal -N2,545,514,242.17, Rehabilitation/asphalt overlay of RMK Flyover – 1BB Road- Kofar Mazugal Jn – Katsina Road 7,805,598,371.63, Expansion of Katsina Road (Baban Gwari R/about – Mil Tara) including five RC pedestrian bridges – N24,774,204,969.98, and the Construction of 10 concrete pedestrian bridges at strategic locations – N3,841,122,109.80.

The commissioners urged the state government to continued supporting engineer Abba Kabiru Yusuf led administration for bringing infrastructure and policies aimed at improving the living standard of the general populace.
