ACOMIN Visits RUWASSA MD and Rano LGA Chair, Advocates for Improved Healthcare in Kano

The Civil Society in Malaria Control Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has visited the managing director of Kano state Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) as part of stakeholders engagement in the improvements of healthcare service in Kano state.

The Kano state program officer of ACOMIN Malam Sharif Abubakar disclosed this in a exclusive interview with GLOBAL TRACKER shortly after the visit on wednesday afternoon.

According to Sharif, ACOMIN have identified an urgent need for improved water and sanitation infrastructure at many health facilities in the state.

“On behalf of Civil Society in Malaria Control, and Immunization (ACOMIN), I am writing to respectfully request the intervention and support of your esteemed agency in the construction of sanitary toilet facilities and water pumps across several key locations within our community.

“Over the past months, we have identified an urgent need for improved water and sanitation infrastructure: Issue of water in areas such as: Yalwa karama HP in Tofa LGA, Dantsinke PHC and Kundila PHC, in Tarauni LGA, Darki PHC.in Wudil LGA, Kundu PHC and ruwan kanya HP in Rano LGA, Sani A.Awa HP in Bichi LGA, Goron maje HP in Danbatta LGA, Zakirai CHC in Gabasawa LGA, Matage PHC, in
Dawakin kudu LGA, and jirgawa HP and kunya danbawa HP in Minjibir LGA,Dausayi HP and Tsamiya HP in Ungogo LGA,” said Sharif.

Remarking, the managing director Alhaji Shamwilu Abdulkadir Isah appreciate the visit which according to him is timely.

He assured that the agency will immediately swung into action and address many of the issues drastically.

In another development, the ACOMIN program officer accompanied by some civil society organizations has payed a similar visit to the honorable Nasiru Yau Rano, Chairman Rano local government areas in Kano state.

Discussing some of the issues raised by CSO’s with the chairman, the ACOMIN Kano program officer said if those concerns was addressed, huge improvements in healthcare sector of the areas will be achieved.

He said “the SAT visited the Executive Chairman of Rano Local Government Area (LGA) during the visit, we began
by appreciating his efforts in the development of the LGA, particularly in the health sector.

“We presented updates on several
issues, including: Kwanar Juma Health Post (HP): Follow-up actions were needed. ( Worked in quarter 5), Kundu Primary Health Centre (PHC): Renovation required, along with additional staff, water supply, and repairs to the non-functional toilet, Ruwan Kanya PHC: Needs renovation, improved toilet facilities, water supply, and enhanced security,” said Sharif.

“The Chairman expressed gratitude for ACOMIN’s efforts in complementing the government’s initiatives to address these issues. He promised to resolve some of these issues before the end of the quarter,” he added.
