World Education Day 2026: CSADI Visits GGASS Zoo Road, Supports Students with Writing Materials

The Community Support and Development Initiatives (CSADI) has visited Government Girls Arabic Senior Secondary School, Zoo Road, Kano State, in commemoration of World Education Day, as part of its commitment to promoting education and youth development.

During the visit, the students were sensitized the students on the dangers of drug abuse, other unwanted behaviours and provided career guidance, encouraging them to remain focused on their studies and make informed decisions about their future.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of CSADI Hajiya Zainab Ahmed Suleiman MFR, JP urged other organizations, development partners, and well-meaning individuals to support government efforts aimed at reviving and strengthening the education sector.

She stressed that collaboration is key to achieving sustainable improvements in education.

In her remarks, the Principal of the school, Rumasa’u Abdullahi, commended the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his commitment to reviving the education sector in the state.

She noted that the government’s interventions in education have begun to yield positive results, particularly in improving learning environments and student motivation.

“We sincerely commend the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for prioritizing education and taking concrete steps to revive the sector. These efforts have positively impacted our school and encouraged students to take their education seriously,” the principal said.

She also expressed appreciation to CSADI for the visit and support, describing the engagement as timely and beneficial to the students, especially in guiding them towards positive behaviour and clear career paths.

The visit aligns with CSADI’s broader mission to promote education, youth empowerment, and community development through advocacy, sensitization, and strategic partnerships across Kano State.

The International Day of Education 2026 recognised youth and their role as agents of change in achieving inclusive and equitable quality education and building peaceful, just and inclusive societies.

The International Day of Education was celebrated through a hybrid event at the Headquarters of United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO) on Friday 23 January 2026.

During the day, UNESCO released a new global measurement by the Global Education Monitoring Report assessing student and youth participation in education legislation, policy making and introducing the new cohort of the SDG4 Youth & Student Network.

The occasion showcased UNESCO’s action for youth across the globe, as a tangible expression of the organization for the people’.
