The Nigerian Democratic Working Group (NDWG) has thrown its weight behind the nomination of Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor of Kano State, describing the move as timely and strategically aligned with the principles of effective governance and democratic consolidation.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Mohammed Hussaini, the group commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what it termed a well-considered decision reflecting political maturity, inclusiveness, and a commitment to strengthening institutional leadership.
The group noted that the nomination underscores the importance of appointing experienced and capable individuals into key positions to enhance governance outcomes and ensure policies resonate with grassroots realities.

“The nomination of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo represents a significant step toward reinforcing administrative efficiency and promoting cohesive governance. It is a decision that highlights the Governor’s dedication to competence, loyalty, and service to the people,” the statement said.
The NDWG further emphasized that Garo’s extensive experience in public service and active engagement in political processes position him well to support the administration’s development agenda.
It called on political stakeholders, including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties, to support the nomination in the interest of unity, stability, and sustainable development in the state.
The group also urged political actors to prioritize collective progress over partisan differences, stressing that enduring governance success depends on collaboration and inclusive participation.
Reaffirming its commitment to democratic values, the NDWG pledged continued support for initiatives that promote good governance, institutional strength, and improved service delivery across Kano State.
It expressed confidence that the nomination would further strengthen governance structures and contribute meaningfully to the realization of long-term development goals in the state.
