The Kano State Hospital Management Board (HMB) has appealed to the general public to exercise patience as the board is trying to find a lasting solution to the issue of water supply at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital (MMSH), saying “inadequacy of water will soon be history in the past.”

The executive secretary of the board Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda disclosed this in a statement sent to GLOBAL TRACKER by the public relations officer of the board Samira Suleiman.

According to the statement, Dr Nagoda made the plea when he paid a visit to the facility on Wednesday urging that the government is going to provide other means to get water to the facility.

He said with over 1,200-bed space and seeing over 10,000 patients daily, the management cannot control the usage of water in the facility.

“Presently, there are 12 functional boreholes in the facility but due to the size, climate change, and the demand, the water is not able to reach the maximum usage even after increasing the depth of the wells. “To ease the issue a bit, we would provide two tankers daily, 1 would be stationed at the maternity unit and the other at the Mile Tara children’s unit,” he added.”

In addition, the executive secretary called on the the state government to provide additional industrial boreholes in the vicinity of the facility stressing that this would further ease the issue of lack of enough water supply.

He then thanked the State government under the leadership of His Excellency the Executive Governor Alh Abba Kabir Yusuf for his prompt intervention in matters related to the well-being of the people of Kano state.
