The Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov says the major flood in the city of Orsk that forced the evacuation of several thousand people after a dam burst has created a “critical” situation.
Mr. Alexander disclosed this after visiting the city of Urals which is close to the border with Kazakhstan.
According to the minister, the flood situation in Orsk is developing according to the worst-case scenario.

“There are 6,644 residential houses in the flooded area, and eleven temporary shelters with a capacity of 8,087 places have been set up,” the minister said as quoted by Russian News Agency TASS.
Meanwhile, an AFP news agency reported that more than 4,500 houses have been flooded, and more than 4,000 people evacuated from Orsk to temporary housing centers.
