“The visit is aimed at strengthening collaboration, intelligence sharing, training, and other working relationships between the Nigeria Forest Security Service and the Kano State Neighborhood Watch Corps,” he stated.
During the visit, Abdullahi Al’ameen emphasized the critical role of community-driven security structures in addressing insecurity and maintaining peace at the grassroots level.
He highlighted the importance of:
- community-based security surveillance,
- intelligence gathering,
- neighborhood patrols,
- emergency response support,
- and collaboration with relevant security agencies.
According to him, effective security management can only succeed when communities actively participate in monitoring suspicious activities and supporting law enforcement agencies with credible intelligence.
The NFSS commander also stressed the need for stronger synergy among local security institutions to improve rapid response capabilities and strengthen public confidence in security operations.
Responding during the visit, the Commander General of the Kano State Neighborhood Watch Corps Lieutenant Colonel Aminu Yusuf Abdulmalik Rtd, appreciated the NFSS delegation for the visit and pledged stronger cooperation between the two organizations.
“We appreciate this visit and the commitment shown by the Nigeria Forest Security Service toward strengthening security collaboration in Kano State,” he said.
He assured that the Neighborhood Watch Corps would continue to work closely with the NFSS and other security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property across the state.
“Security is a collective responsibility. We are ready to work closely with all relevant security organizations for the safety and peace of Kano residents,” Abdulmalik added.
The development reflects increasing recognition of community-based security initiatives as vital complements to conventional policing, especially in intelligence gathering and early warning systems.
The visit is expected to pave the way for closer operational coordination between both organizations as Kano continues efforts to enhance peace, public safety, and protection of lives and property across the state.
