Kano Informatics Kura’s Infrastructure 50% Dilapidated, Polytechnic Rector Tells Governor Yusuf

The Rector of Kano state Polytechnics Dr. Kabiru Bello Dungurawa has told the state governor that informatics Institute, Kura’s infrastructure is 50 percent dilapidated and required serious upgrade.

Dungurawa told the governor that the institute was in 2015 handed over to the Kano University of Science and Technology before finally relinquished to the State Polytechnic by the immediate past administration.

“Institute’s infrastructure is 50 Percent dilapidated and required a serious upgrade,” disclosing that CBN has released over N10 billion intervention to Kano state Polytechnic out of which some percentage has been set aside for the provision of hostels, classrooms, staff quarters and library.

He then thanked the Governor for the timely approval of cash backing of N72 million for the accreditation of 68 courses at the Polytechnic.

In a remark, the Kano state Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed the immediate reopening of academic activities at Kano informatics institute, Kura by September this year.

The governor who expressed dismay over the dilapidation nature of the institute, said the institute will be fully into use within the year 2023 to avail the teaming youth the opportunity to explore thier potentials in the Information Communication Technology sector of the economy.

He said as one of the stakeholders in the conceptualization of the idea for the establishment of the institute during the then administration of Sen. Rabi’u Musa kwankwaso, get disturbed when he saw how the institute was allowed to be in a terrible condition.

In a statement signed by press secretary to the governor Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa quoted yusuf as stressing that the aim for the establishment of the institute was to train Kano youth on various fields of ICT for self reliance and better service delivery.

“We will continue to provide all the necessary infrastructure not only to this institute but also to other institutions in the state”. He added.

While commending the Rector of the Kano state Polytechnic, Dr. Kabiru Dungurawa for his up and doing in seeking the intervention of the CBN, part of which will be committed to the development of infrastructure in the Polytechnic and its affiliates, the Governor expressed determination to ensure that the Kano Informatics Institute is restored to its lost glory and transformed to a global standard.
