The Executive Governor of Kano State Alh Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the purchase of free service drugs and laboratory consumables for Hasiya Bayero Paediatrics hospital as part of his promise to reach out to the less privileged in the society.
In a statement signed by the public relations officer, Kano state Hospital Management board Samira Suleiman said at the visitation of the supervision team to Hasiya Bayero paediatrics hospital, the team reported that the facility was very neat, management responding to challenges but meet the dispensary empty, no drugs and other consumables.
It said the development prompted the governor to approve the immediate purchase of the items needed worth millions of naira.

Another facility visited at night which also falls in the same zone with Hasiya Bayero was Imam Wali Hospital. The team found a very clean compound, good staffing, with a satisfactory complement from patients. The major issues that where encountered where lack of enough light with just few attendants.
Dr Nagoda ordered an immediate release of solar poles to the facility and also recruited 10 casual attendants to complement the effort of the management in facility.
Marmara maternity hospital also recieved the team at night which before the visit have already been earmarked to undergo a major reconstruction in other to meet up and serve as a standard maternity hospital with a 24hours health care service.
Kano State Hospitals Management Board have a total of 48 facilities distribution into 15 zone with Chief Medical Directors and Zonal Directors as heads of those facilities. “We shall be reporting zone by zone to the populace, this will be in line with the government agenda of revolutionizing heath sector, he added.”
Meanwhile, the executive Secretary Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Dr Mansur Mudi Nagoda and his team have commenced an unscheduled inspection to all facilities under the care of the board as part of its efforts to cleanse the health sector in the state.
In compliance with the Head of service directives and civil service rules, HMB has designed the visits which would be carried out by the Honourable Commissioner, Kano state ministry of Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, all Executive secretaries and Director generals of health agencies in the state.
In a statement sent to GLOBAL TRACKER by the board’s image-maker Dr Nagoda explained that Supervisors will pay unscheduled visits to all zones allocated to them using the Supervision templates to checkmate the facility adding that official buses are ready to convey the officials when necessary.
He added that, take over and hand over notes,Theatre lists Servicom telephone numbers and offices, Sanitation, Interview with patients on their satisfaction with the services rendered to them will be part of the assessment. It should be noted that the team are vested with power to take immediate action and issue query where necessary.

According to the Executive Secretary, Management performance and facility score will be pronounced, Action points to be taken swiftly on issues that where discovered making sure that all gaps will be filled.
It would be recalled that Dr Nagoda passed a strong warning to all health workers on issues regarding the work condition in all the facilities ranging from absenteeism, absconding from duty post, nonchalant attitude towards the health care system in the state.
