African Vaccination Week 2024: Mari-care Foundation, District Head of Tarauni Sensitized Public in Kano

The Mari-care Foundation for Widows, Single Parents, Orphans, and Vulnerable Children in collaboration with the Office of the district head of Tarauni local government area in Kano has resolved to sensitize the general public on the importance of vaccination and how it helped communities vaccinated their children against communicable diseases.

The Foundation’s national coordinator Mrs Ola Taiwo disclosed this shortly after she and her team paid a courtesy visit to the district head of Tarauni local government area in Kano state as part of the stakeholders’ meeting and sensitization to the general public on the importance of vaccination held in Kano on Thursday.

GLOBAL TRACKER recalled that the World Health Organization (WHO) has marked every last week of April annually as African Vaccination Week, and this year’s theme is “Humanly Possible: Saving Lives Through Immunization” which emphasized the achievement of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the EPI.

According to her, the visit focused on how the two sides will work with each other at the local level in fighting misinformation about vaccination and how vaccines support human life.

In a remark, the district head of Tarauni Alhaji Ado Kurawa assured that the foundation and the traditional institution of the area support everyone capable of improving the lives of his people.

Kurawa represented by Alhaji Jamilu Wada said all their message will communicated to village and ward heads for prompt action.

The district head then commended the foundation for a job Weldon, stressing that Tarauni was known for supporting nongovernmental organizations aimed at improving educational standards and health care service delivery among others.

Meanwhile, the Mari-care Foundation has paid a similar visit to the HOD health of Tarauni local government area Hajiya Saratu Ibrahim.

Mrs Ibrahim during the visit said the sensitization campaign was part of their responsibilities and they will work hand-in-hand with the foundation to achieve the set target.

EPI was established by WHO in 1974 to combat and prevent various communicable diseases through systemic immunization programs.
