The Executive Secretary Kano State Hospitals Management Board (HMB) Dr Mansur Mudi Nagoda have approved the immediate suspension of a medical officer at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital.
In a statement by public relations officer of the board Samira Suleiman said the development followed several complains received yesterday night by patients and staff of the facility that the medical Doctor left the facility without any prior knowledge of any officer or the management of the hospital.
Dr Nagoda explained that, Several calls where placed to her and she kept saying she is in the premises while she wasn’t in the doctors quarters and upto morning she never showed up leaving a dialyses patient in a terrified state.
The Executive Secretary further said that, the oath they took to protect lives should be the 1st point of call in running the activities in the system urging everyone to sit up.
“Let this serve as a warning to all, if by any means you have to be absent from duty, it is paramount to make a proper arrangement with another doctor to cover up your duty post. We will not fold our arms and watch people throw the system into uncertainty” he said.
Dr Nagoda added that the medical officer’s suspension will be effective pending on the outcome of the investigation. “The Executive supervision will continue with full force and we expect everyone whose name appears on the duty roster to be at their post. Who ever is found wanting should have their self to blame”.
Dr Nagoda lamented that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is trying his best to see that all goes well in the health system adding that all allowances of medical doctors have been approved so as to keep the system functional.
