Less than 24 hours into the commencement of the nationwide strike by organized labour, the Federal Government has invited the unions for fresh talks to end the strike.
Report says that there is a full compliance by workers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies, financial institutions, Government hospitals, and power sector among others.
In a bid to end the ongoing strike despite the failed attempt on Sunday night, the Federal Government through the National Salaries Wages and Income Commission said it had extended an invitation to the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

When contacted to know if the labour unions will honour the invitation, a sources says that such will be decided at the end of a joint national executive council meeting by the unions today.
The source said, “Labour has not shut its doors on the minimum wage discussion, moving forward we will weigh invitations, so we don’t waste our time.
“Our demand is clear, give Nigerians a substantial minimum wage”.
