According to him, “As we all know, we have food crisis in Nigeria, and if care is not taking, it would be worst.

“The Urea giants companies; Dangote, Indorama, Notore have a combined capacity of nearly 6m tonnes annually. But this year, they have deprived Nigerian farmers their products which were believed to be smuggled out of the country as against the March 2022 agreement which was duly signed and sent to the National Security Adviser, NSA which stipulates that @DangoteGroup and @IndoramaCorp must reserve at least 35% of their chemicals for the Nigerian market.

“Moreover, Munish Jindal, the Indian boss of @IndoramaCorp told the @SenatorAKyari’s representatives that he sold 90,000 tonnes of Urea to the local market since the start of this year, but investigation revealed that the company sold nothing to over 36.5m Nigerian farmers which led to the ridiculous increase of the product to almost 40k.

“Therefore, I urge the Hon. Minister Of Agriculture @SenatorAKyari and the National Security Adviser @NuhuRibadu to carefully look into this and do the needful before it further plunge Nigeria into more devastating food crisis, which we all know its effects to our economy, food security as well as the national security which are the backbone of our dear country.

“We are calling the attention of Federal government to investigate why and what are the reasons for the high cost of Urea fertilizer in Nigeria. International price is 25k while it is 32k or 40k in some parts of the country. Going by the situation, it’s even better for you to import it from outside the country. So how do you expect farm yields from farmers. And so, this is also responsible for the hike of food stuffs. And they are intentionally creating delay and shortages that make things harder to get access because they are only two players.

“And they’re not supporting the federal government in reducing the cost of farm input. Therefore, we want federal government to give chances to anyone who wanted to import like Golden, A.A Rano, BUA etc so with competitors price will reduce.

“We want government to intervene. They should issue license to who want to import fertilizer. Because it will come below that there prices,” Fara however said.
