We’re Investigating Possible Assassination Attempt Against Donald Trump — FBI

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) says it has already launched investigation on the shooting which took place when former president Donald Trump is playing at his golf field in West Palm Springs resort in Florida.

The US secret service said there were a reports of gunfire near Trump’s vicinity, but he was unharmed.

The FBI says it is investigating an incident which was described as an apparent “attempted assassination”.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, says he is “safe and well” after gunshots were fired in his vicinity in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press, citing law enforcement sources, reported that Secret Service agents opened fire after seeing a person with a firearm on the outskirts of the golf course.

The person fled in an SUV and was later apprehended in a nearby county by local law enforcement, the sources said. It was not immediately clear if the individual had fired at Trump.

An AK-style firearm was recovered at the scene near Trump’s golf course, law enforcement officials told the news agency.

Local authorities have said there were no injuries in the incident.

In the same vein, Aljazeera media network reports that one of Trump’s top allies, Lindsey Graham has said that he spoke with the former president and Republican presidential candidate and that he is in “good spirits”.

He called Trump “one of the strongest people I’ve ever known”.

Also, Trump’s Democratic rival, Kamala Harris says she has been briefed on the situation, expressing relief that the former president is unharmed.

“Violence has no place in America,” she said in a social media post.
