Kano NSCDC Busts Motorcycle Theft Syndicate, Arrests 6 Suspects

The Kano state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has arrested six (6) suspected motorcycle thieves that specialized in violently attacking and snatching motor bikes belonging to the members of the public.

The command public relation officer SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi in a statement sent to GLOBAL TRACKER said the suspect were arrested at Gurin Gawa and Bechi areas of Kumbotso local government area.

He said those arrested are in custody of the NSCDC, and investigation is on going for necessary legal action.

The suspects are: Najib Lawal ‘M’ 25yrs, Bashir Bello Idris ‘M’ 34yrs, Lawan Yakubu ‘M’ 27yrs, Kabiru Garba ‘M’ 29yrs, Hussain Hassan ‘M’ 24yrs and Mubarak Basiru ‘M’ 21yrs. Two members of the gang are at large and a serious manhunt has been launched to apprehend them.

Two of the suspects, Mubarak Basiru and Hussain Hassan had earlier on the 14th January, 2025 around 0300hrs forcefully broken into Malam Abdullahi Bala house at Gurin Gawa, Kumbotso local government assaulted him and eventually made away with his bike.

According to the statement, with the assistance of vigilante members and men of the Corps, Kumbotso division, the 2 attackers were successfully nabbed.

It said four additional suspects, among whom 2 stolen motorcycle receivers are all in NSCDC net.

Moreover, two (2) motor bikes have so far been recovered with investigation being intensified to recover more.

It added that the state commandant of the corp Mohammed Lawal Falala has since directed the Armed squad unit of the command to mobilize operatives for routine patrols around Eastern bypass to ward off criminals attack in the area and other places in the metropolis.
