The Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC), an umbrella of all registered political parties in Nigeria has support the decision by Kano state media executives on banning all political live broadcast in Kano state describing it as well come development.

The chairman of IPAC in Kano state Alhaji Isa Nuhu Isa disclosed this while briefing journalist in Kano on Monday.

According to Danfulani, the development is a well come idea and that IPAC will meet with stakeholders to ensure enforcement of the order.

His wards “In my capacity as Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Kano state chapter, i hereby express our unequivocal commendation for the collective and Conscientious decision taken by media establishments throughout Kano State to Suspend the broadcast of live political programming across radio and television platforms. This resolute and timely intervention reflects an admirable commitment to the principles of responsible journalism, the de-escalation of political tensions, and the prioritization of the overarching welfare of the citizenry above partisan considerations.”

“The Kano State Chapter of IPAC fully endorses this initiative, which is inherently consistent with our foundational objectives–namely, to foster a climate of peaceful political interaction, to champion ethical standards in public discourse, and to preserve the unity and stability of our sociopolitical landscape. While we acknowledge the indispensable role of the media as both a mirror and molder of societal discourse, it is regrettable that certain live political broadcasts have, in recent times, devolved into platforms for the dissemination of divisive rhetoric, misinformation, and inflammatory content. Such developments constitute a palpable threat to public order and to the spirit of communal harmony that underpins our society.”

“It must be emphasized that this suspension is neither a curtailment of Tree expression nor an affront to democratic principles, but rather a prudent pause for introspection and recalibration. We call upon all political actors, stakeholders, and members of the public to embrace this opportunity to engage in issue-based, respectful, and constructive dialogue as we collectively navigate the path toward the 2027 general elections.

“The media’s decisive action exemplifies their role as custodians of both information and social responsibility-tasked not only with informing the public but also with shielding the polity from destabilizing influences.

“Furthermore, we urge other critical stakeholders-including security agencies, civil society organizations, and political parties to lend their unequivocal support to this initiative. Let us work collaboratively to design and implement robust frameworks that ensure political communication is grounded in truth, integrity, and an abiding respect for the rule of law.

“In due course the inter-party advisory
council (IPAC) Will engages with the Kano stakeholders on way forward
Permit me to reiterate that the Kano State Chapter of IPAC remains steadfast in its commitment to a democratic process that is peaceful, equitable, and inclusive.

“We salute the media’s courage and foresight in undertaking this preventive measure and encourage them to sustain this spirit of patriotic duty.
