The federal government of Nigeria through the board of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), Federal government Fire Service and the Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS, (CDCFIB) has warned the general public to be wary of fraudsters spreading misinformation about the ongoing recruitment process into the paramilitary services under its supervision.
Maj.-Gen. A.M. Jibril (Rtd), the secretary of CDCFIB disclosed this in a statement sent to journalist in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the Board’s attention was drawn to a letter currently circulating on social media platforms, claiming to provide details about the recruitment exercise.

While confirming that President Bola Tinubu had approved the recruitment of 30,150 personnel into the four paramilitary services and 209 personnel into the CDCFIB Secretariat, the Board emphasised that the official recruitment process had not yet commenced.
Jibril said the Board was currently processing a waiver for a three-week advert placement in national dailies, as against the six-week statutory requirement, to expedite the procedure.
“For the avoidance of doubt, any official recruitment exercise by the Board will be duly advertised in credible national newspapers, and the process will be fair, transparent, and completely free of charge,” he stated.
A breakdown of the approved personnel includes: Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS): 5,150, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS): 10,000, Federal Fire Service (FFS): 10,000, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC): 5,000 and CDCFIB Secretariat: 209
The Board urged job seekers and members of the public not to fall victim to recruitment scammers who exploit desperation and circulate false information to defraud innocent citizens.
“Members of the public should be extremely cautious and report any suspicious offers or individuals requesting payment in exchange for employment,” the statement added.
The board reaffirmed its commitment to upholding merit, equity, and due process in all recruitment activities under its mandate.
