Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has assured that the Federal Government of Nigeria will provide relief support to victims of recent attacks in Shanga Local Government Area, as part of efforts to ease their suffering.
The Vice President gave the assurance during a condolence visit to Nasir Idris, Governor of Kebbi State, over the death of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as well as victims of the Shanga attacks.
Delivering the condolence message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Shettima said the Federal Government would channel support to affected communities through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

“Adequate measures are being put in place to bring succour to the victims of the attacks,” the Vice President stated, while reiterating the government’s commitment to supporting affected communities.
He further disclosed that President Tinubu has directed security agencies to intensify operations and remain resolute in tackling terrorism and criminal activities threatening lives and property across the country.
Responding, Governor Idris expressed appreciation for the visit and solidarity shown by the Federal Government. He revealed that the Kebbi State Government had approved ₦100 million to support the relocation of communities displaced by banditry in Shanga Local Government Area.
The governor also announced an additional ₦60 million for the families of 11 soldiers who lost their lives in a recent ambush by gunmen in the area.
On arrival, Vice President Shettima was received by Governor Idris at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, before proceeding to commiserate with the government and people of the state.
The condolence visit was attended by top government officials, members of the late Speaker’s family, and heads of security agencies. It underscored the Federal Government’s resolve to support victims, restore stability, and strengthen security efforts in the region.
