Kano Govt Announces Second Term Holiday for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The Kano State Ministry of Education has announced the commencement of the second term holiday for the 2025/2026 academic session across Kano State. 

Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, the Director of Public Relations and Enlightenment at the ministry disclosed this in a statement sent to journalists including parents and guardians, the announcement which was sighted by GLOBAL TRACKER.

According to a statement, all public and private primary and secondary schools are to proceed on holiday effective Friday, April 17, 2026, for day schools, and Saturday, April 18, 2026, for boarding schools.

The statement noted that the break is intended to provide students and staff with adequate time for rest and preparation ahead of the third term.

Schools are expected to resume for the third term on Sunday, May 3, 2026, for boarding schools, and Monday, May 4, 2026, for day schools, when academic activities will continue as scheduled.

The Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, wished students a successful holiday and urged parents and guardians to ensure their wards return promptly on resumption dates to avoid disruption of academic progress.

He also called on school administrators to strictly adhere to the approved academic calendar, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to maintaining high standards and a conducive learning environment.
