Iranians are demanding a swift response to a dizzying wave of strikes by Israel, as some took to the streets in protest, while others sheltered inside.
As Iran continued to assess the damage, some residents rallied in the streets of Tehran chanting: “Death to Israel, death to America,” while waving Iranian flags and portraits of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
State television said similar demonstrations were held in cities across the country.
“How much longer are we going to live in fear?” asked Ahmad Moadi, a 62-year-old retiree, in quotes carried by AFP news agency.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will soon address the public.
A statement on his official X account reads, “The Zionist regime will regret its action today.”
In the meantime, developing stories indicate that Iran has withdrew from scheduled nuclear talks with the United States.
It said at least 78 people killed in Israeli strikes on Tehran and 320 others injured, but not as reported by weastern media.
Also, Hamas’s military wing expresses solidarity with Iran.
Abu Obeida, the nom de guerre of the Qassam Brigades’ masked spokesperson, has issued a statement on Telegram in the wake of Israel’s strikes.
“We declare our solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the face of the brutal Zionist aggression, which stems primarily from its support for the Palestinian people and its great support for their honorable resistance fighters”, Abu Obeida said.
“The Zionist enemy is deluded if it believes that these treacherous strikes can undermine the resistance fronts or consolidate the foundations of this fragile entity in the region”, he continued. “On the contrary, it continues to commit successive strategic errors that will bring it closer to its inevitable demise, God willing.”
Hamas is one of the groups in the region that is a part of Iran’s so-called axis of resistance.
However United state president Donald Trump has warned Iran that more a yet to come if no nuclear deal is signed.
“I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I told them, in the strongest of words, to “just do it,” but no matter how hard they tried, no matter how close they got, they just couldn’t get it done. I told them it would be much worse than anything they know, anticipated, or were told, that the United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the World, BY FAR, and that Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come – And they know how to use it.
Certain Iranian hardliner’s spoke bravely, but they didn’t know what was about to happen. They are all DEAD now, and it will only get worse! There has already been great death and destruction, but there is still time to make this slaughter, with the next already planned attacks being even more brutal, come to an end.
Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire.
