The Nigeria Forward Project (NFP) has urged political appointees of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from Northern Nigeria to take the message and achievements of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda beyond Abuja and communicate directly with citizens at the grassroots.
The group made the call in a statement signed by its Co-Convener, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, PhD, on Thursday.
The statement followed an earlier directive by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, who urged ministers, special advisers, chairmen and chief executive officers of federal government agencies to intensify communication of the achievements and impact of the Tinubu administration to Nigerians.

Akume gave the charge at the Federal Appointees Strategic Summit in Abuja, where federal appointees were urged to strengthen strategic communication of the Renewed Hope Agenda and demonstrate how government policies and programmes are affecting the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
Waiya said the call had assumed greater political significance as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections, arguing that federal appointees, particularly those from the North, should use their positions to explain government policies, programmes and projects to the people.
According to him, the Northern appointees should not limit their engagements to Abuja but should take the message of the administration to markets, farms, businesses, universities, communities and homes.
“There are moments in the life of a nation when those entrusted with public responsibility must rise, speak with conviction and give citizens reasons to believe that tomorrow can be better than today. For President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointees, especially those from the North, that moment is now,” he said.
Waiya said government achievements should be presented through measurable evidence and explained in terms of their effect on citizens, rather than being left within official documents and government offices.
He urged the appointees to communicate what he described as the administration’s reforms in areas such as infrastructure, economic management, institutional development and opportunities for citizens.
The group’s position comes amid growing political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with federal government appointees and political groups organising initiatives aimed at promoting the Tinubu administration’s record and seeking support for continuity.
In August, the Forum of PBAT CEOs, comprising heads of federal government agencies, began mobilisation around the President’s 2027 re-election, with its leadership describing agency heads as “foot soldiers” of the Renewed Hope Agenda and stressing the importance of communicating government achievements to citizens.
Similarly, political leaders and stakeholders in the North-Central recently launched a grassroots mobilisation movement supporting President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 election, with plans for rallies, town-hall meetings and other grassroots engagements.
Waiya said such mobilisation should go beyond political activities and provide an opportunity for citizens to understand the policies and programmes of the Federal Government.
“The aspirations of the citizens must become the language of the campaign,” he said.
He added that Nigerians would ultimately determine the outcome of the 2027 elections based on what they see, experience and understand about the administration.
Waiya therefore urged Tinubu’s appointees not merely to campaign for continuity but to explain the reasons they believe continuity is important, defend the administration’s record with evidence and communicate its vision to Nigerians.
He said Northern appointees had a particular responsibility to establish direct communication channels with their constituencies and communities, adding that the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda should reach people at the local level.
“The Northern Nigerian appointees must take the message beyond Abuja, to markets, farms, businesses, universities, local communities and homes at the community level,” he said.
Waiya maintained that the Renewed Hope Agenda should not remain a government slogan but should be communicated through concrete projects, policies and measurable outcomes that citizens can assess for themselves.
“Now is the time to take the Renewed Hope message to the people. Let the story be told. Let the achievements speak. Let the vision be explained,” he said.
He further called on the appointees to engage citizens directly, listen to their concerns and explain how federal policies are intended to address challenges affecting different communities.
The Nigeria Forward Project said effective communication between government and citizens would remain important as the country moves towards the 2027 elections.
“Renewed Hope must not remain a government slogan. It must become a story Nigerians can see and feel,” Waiya said.
