A check at the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the ongoing voter registration has revealed that seven local government areas in Kano state has performed woefully.
The development raised questions on the stakeholders’ efforts on creating awareness to various communities especially at the affected LGAs.
They are Tarauni, Rogo, Doguwa, Kunchi, Kabo, Albasu and Tofa local government areas.

The voter registration analysis for Kano State as of October 7, 2025, shows significant variation across the 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs), with a total of 59,203 completed physical registrations, making Kano the first in the country in registration turnout.
A Progress Report prepared by Dr Aliyu Isa Aliyu Chairman Sub Committee Data Analysis showed that Nassarawa local government area leads the tally in Kano with 2,442 new voter registration while neighboring Tarauni records 549 only.
The tally indicate that Rogo local government is the worst with only 147 new voter registration, while Doguwa has 536, Kunchi 840, Kabo 892, Albasu 902 and Tofa with 921 voters.
[10/13, 5:23 PM] Sani Garko: According to Aliyu’s report, Nassarawa was followed closely by Kumbotso (2,333) and Bichi (2,328), reflecting their large urban populations and strong access to registration centers.
The report added that Mid-performing LGAs such as Dala (1,548), Gaya (1,542), Rimin Gado (1,570), and Ungogo (1,632) showed moderate but steady participation.
In the the Report, the Chairman of Sub Committee Data Analysis, Dr. Aliyu pointed out that majority of LGAs, including Garko, Ajingi, Bunkure, and Minjibir, recorded between 1,000 and 1,200 registrations, consistent with statewide averages.
