ASUU-KUST Wudil Dismayed by Poor Working Condition, Lack of Transparency, Non-Release of Audited Accounts, Others

The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), Kano University’s of Acience and Technology Wudil KUST chapter has expressed its dismay over the inability of the university management to release audited account, poor working condition, lack of transparency and insubordination.

Aliyu Yusuf Ahmad and Abubakar Ibrahim Tukur, the chairperson as well as secretary respectively disclosed this in a statement sent to GLOBAL TRACKER.

According to the statement, arising from its meeting on 2nd October, 2025, the leadership of the union called on the management of the university to ensure quick resolution of the said issues stated so as to avoid industrial actions.

The resolution reads “the congress expressed concern over the inability
of the University Administration to;

1. Improve the working and living conditions of staff and students for effective research, teaching and learning.

2. Release the Audited Accounts of the University for the years 2023 and 2024, Budget Performance Reports of the University for 20 quarters from January 2020 to December 2024 in flagrant violation of Statute 5 of the KUST (Amendment law) 2017 and provide clarification on bogus and unexplained expenditure contained in the Budget Performance Reports of First Quarter 2025 and Second Quarter 2025.
3. Recruit required number of academic staff especially in the newly established department and regularize the appointments of members who were unduly placed on contract appointments rather than permanent.
4. Reconnect all sections of the University to regular electricity supply.
5. Settle the outstanding entitlements of members.

It said, to that effect, the Union calls on stakeholders and good citizens of the State to prevail on the Vice-Chancellor to ensure quick resolution of the issues stated and to run the University in strict compliance with enabling laws and with sense of patriotism in order to avoid industrial disharmony.
