Kebbi Police Foils Bandit Attack, Recover 141 Rustle Livestock, Motorcycles

The Kebbi state Police Command, said the personnel of No. 36 Police Mobile Force squadron, Birnin Kebbi, has recorded another significant breakthrough in their sustained efforts to rid Kebbi State of banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said armed bandits on Saturday in their large numbers invaded Zodi village in Zuru LGA of Kebbi State, and rustled unspecified number of livestock.

The statement stated that, upon receiving the report, the personnel of No 36 PMF squadron, Birnin Kebbi, deployed for operations to restore peace in the area promptly responded with sparodic shooting thareby repelling the assailants with heavy gun fire exchange which resulted to neutralizing of many bandits while others fled into the forest with fatal gunshot wounds along with the dead bodies.

According to the statement, when search was conducted in the forest, two motorcycles, Ninety six cows and fourty five sheep were recovered as exhibits.

Its said, the recovered livestock have been handed over to the village head of Zodi for safe return to the rightful owners, while the recovered two motorcycles were handed over to the Divisional Police Officer, Zuru, for further investigation with a view to Identifying and arresting the owners.

The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, had commended the gallantry performance of the 36 PMF Personnel and charged them to sustain the momentum.

He reiterated the Command’s unwavering determination to ensuring the security and safety of the good people of Kebbi State.
