Members of a church parish have received improved seeds, seedlings and food items as part of an initiative aimed at promoting food security, self-reliance and economic empowerment among members.
The program was organised by Redeemed Christian church of God, FCT 6, Region 10 to encourage members to cultivate crops they can consume while also generating additional income through farming activities.
Speaking at the event, the Pastor in Charge of the Zone, Pastor Dagunduro, who is also a farmer and president of one of Nigeria’s commodity associations, urged beneficiaries to make good use of the improved seeds distributed to them.
He said the initiative was designed to boost household food production, improve livelihoods and encourage members to embrace agriculture as a sustainable source of income.
Pastor Dagunduro also expressed appreciation to the Provincial Pastor, Pastor Lawal, for his support in making the programme a reality.
He further commended the Assistant Continental/Regional Pastor, Region 10, Abuja, for his vision, commitment and passion for promoting farming and agricultural development among church members.
According to the organisers, the programme marks the first time a parish has organised such an agricultural empowerment initiative, describing it as a milestone expected to inspire more members to engage in farming and improve their economic well-being.
