Police Ban Use of Knockout, Explosive Devices in Jigawa

The Jigawa state police command has announced the ban of use of explosive devices during the ongoing festive period in the state.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the state police public relations officer disclosed this in a statement sent to journalist on Friday.

According to the statement, “the command wishes to inform the general public that security arrangements are put in place to ensure hitch-free festivities across the state. People in the state are advised to carry out their festivities within the provisions of the law as the Police will not hesitate to clamp down on any person trying to foment trouble.”

“The Command wants to use this medium to remind well-meaning citizens of the state that the ban on the use of knockouts /fireworks/bangers/firecrackers and other explosive devices during any celebration is still in force. Therefore, the command warns parents to advise their children/wards to refrain from the use of such devices capable of instilling fear in people, especially during the yuletide periods. Anybody found wanting, will be dealt with accordingly” it said.

Meanwhile, the state police command has arrested six (6) people strongly believe to be animals rustlers, buglers and recovers four (4) sheep’s and other valuable in Kiyawa local government area of the state.

“On the 22nd and 23rd of December, 2023 respectively, a Patrol Team attached to Kiyawa Divisional headquarters, while on patrol within Kiyawa township suspected one Garba Abubakar ‘m’ age 27yrs of Zugun village, Abdullahi Alhaji ‘m’ age 25yrs of Gadumare village, Musa Ruwa ‘m’ age 25yrs of Zubo village all of Jama’are L.G.A Bauchi state in possession of four (4) sheep and one Ibrahim Rabiu ‘m’ 22yrs of Bakin Kasuwa quarters and Musa Sani ‘m’ 42yrs of Zakirai quarters all of Kiyawa LGA in possession of ten (10) pieces of Roofing zinc and Water Drum, all strongly suspected to be stolen. Hence they were arrested and brought to the Divisional Crime Branch (DCB) for investigation.”

It said on interrogation, the first three (3) suspects confessed to have stolen the four sheep while rearing in the bush at KiriKasamma LGA while the last two suspects revealed that the ten 10 pieces of Roofing zinc and Water Drum were stolen from Ramat Nursery and primary school Kiyawa LGA.

The police image maker said efforts is been intensified to trace the rightful owner of the sheep, whereas the Zinc and Drum had since been handed over to the rightful owner.

It added that all the suspects will be arraigned before the Court of Justice to face the full weight of the law.
