The Kano state ministry of environment has asked the management of Abubakar Imam Urology center to immediately stop disposing medical waste freely to avoid mutation and injury to patients.
The state commissioner for environment and climate Dr. Nasiru Sule Garo disclosed this shortly after monthly environmental sanitation for markets, business premises and government establishment held in Kano on Friday.
Garo represented by permanent secretary at the ministry Mahmoud Bello Bari said the waste if disposed freely may course problem, injury or any other issue to either patients or staffs of the hospital.

“At Urology centre we observed that in their dump site there are injectable pieces disposed freely, anywhere which is unusual, and should not be kept in that way, so we are writing to them officially to effects or those corrections as our men will look after it to ensure maximum compliance,” said Bari.
The commissioner then commended the management of Singa Market, Kwari market and Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) for ensuring maximum compliance to environmental sanitation exercise.

Meanwhile, the chairman of all unions at Singa Market Junaidu Muhammad Zakari commended the management of the ministry for the visit, assuring that stakeholders have joined hand in desilting old and building new drainages to ensure that Singa market is safe as raining season approaches.
Junaidu Zakari explained that the management are currently constructing security points at the market in an effort to make it secure and free business premises to all Nigerians and neighboring countries.
